Ya know, I learned to use an industrial machine while studying fashion, dare I say 15 years ago. I love my brother industrial plain sewer, it’s been slamming out production lines since the 70’s. A solid beast of a machine that I adore, which is coming with me to the studio. Thank baby Jesus says the family, give me my lounge back.
But, you gotta walk before you can run. Domestic machines are designed for home sewers and they are perfect for you and our studio.
Janome and Make Town are working together, beautiful! A sweet deal for us to teach classes on these smart wee machines that are great for beginner and seasoned sewers. They run like a dream, quietly humming along when your foot is pedal to the metal, and then pin drop silent when you don’t. They have a range of stitches, from your basic straight stitch, a classic, a variety of fancy stitches and to top it off they can whip out automatic buttonholes. Boom!
Beginner sewers don’t need to get tangled and lost with using computerised machines, sometimes all the bells and whistles are simply smoke and mirrors. You only use a few stitches for most sewing projects anyway.
The Janome machines are pretty great little workhorses, you are going to enjoy using them for all of your sewing projects from denim jeans and corduroy jumpsuits to silky draws and delicate lacy bras.
Book some studio time on one of these bad boys. We have 6 little machines and 2 overlockers. So no need for fisty cuffs, sharing is caring.
Peace out x Aroha nui
