Saw the Etta Dress – 5 x sessions with Brooke

From: £200.00

Learn how to cut and sew one of my favourite dresses! Perfectly versatile for winter in needlecord or denim!

A simple wrap dress with a lined bodice and inseam pockets. Choose between short 3/4 length sleeves or no sleeves at all. The dress has an inner tie so fitting need not be an issue! The perfect beginners pattern for novice sewers!

You can sew this in one colour if you are a super beginner or patchwork it like mine (this took about 10 hours – so thats a chunk of sewing you will need to do before hand – But totes worth it!)

Week One – Measuring your body, cutting out your pattern from paper. Prep and lay out your fabric and cut the cloth

Week Two – Interfacing and sewing your bodice with ties

Week Three – Assembling sleeves and pockets

Week Four – Gathering the skirt pieces and handstitching the lining in.

Week Five – Finish the hems and final touches for your dress

  • MT will provide – thread, pattern and printed instructions, interfacing, tuition and guidance.
  • You will need to bring – Medium weight wovens like – linen, brushed cotton. Medium weight cotton drill or denim & lightweight baby cord would be amazing!
  • Fabric must be prewashed and 150cm wide to accomodate the full width pattern pieces.
  • 1.1mts of lining – Cotton is lovely but standard lining will do the trick.
  • Approx 3.5 – 4 mts (depending on size and style ) – We will be in touch to help you choose your fabric – a chart can be found below x
  • Size Range – Size 6 – Bust 78cm – Size 18 – Bust 106cm

This course is suitable for beginners who have completed our ‘Learn to Sew’ short course or have other relevant basic sewing experience.

Questions?

Will this class be suitable for me?

Could be?  You don’t need to be an expert but you need to be comfortable threading a sewing machine, straight seams etc.

We recommend you have completed our ‘Learn to Sew’ short course first, and this is perfect for those looking to deepen their skillset including reading a commercial pattern.

I will hold your hand through everything else!
