Come long to this workshop and make a versatile market bag for yourself or someone you love!

What's all this about

The Costermonger bag is the essential market tote designed as a backpack. That’s two in one and that’s our jam!

This is an ideal class for those quite new to sewing, but who want to make something practical with some proper cool gear.

We will use Janome domestic machines and overlockers.

What will I learn?

In this small group workshop you will learn how to follow a paper pattern and how to read pattern markings.

How to follow a lay plan and how to correctly transfer markings, how to cut your fabric and how to sew the dang thing together!

You will learn how to work with hardware, and leather your straps.

And, then you can walk away with a brand new bag on your back!

This workshop includes

Merchant & Mills Costermonger pattern.

Hardware and leather for straps.

Machine threads.

Herbal Tea/coffee

And then of course you get to take your cool AF bag home!

What do I bring?

You will need to bring your fabric for your bag.

You will need 1 mt of fabric, without nap (a directional print).

Suggested fabrics: medium/heavyweight fabric like cotton drill, denim or duck canvas. Oilskin if this is not your first sewing rodeo.

Flick us an email if you need any help with this.

If you would like to use a cotton webbing instead of leather for your straps, please purchase 2 mts at 25mm wide.

You will need to feel confident with using a sewing machine. Stitching straight lines is all that is needed for this project.

That’s it, we got the rest sorted for ya x
