Travel
Make Town sits on the corner of Morning Lane and Chatham Place, across the road from the old Nike Factory store. We do not have any on site parking. Check out the parking situation here.
A quick 10 minute walk from Hackney Central Overground Station, a 2 Minute walk from bus stop D or T on Morning Lane, bus 30, 236, 276, 394 & W15. 10 minute walk from bus stop A or B on Mare Street, Bus 48, 55, 106, 254, 277, N55, N253 & N277.
Kids
Kids are most welcome in the studio! Our looms are about the right size for your average 6 year old to use comfortably. Kids younger than this will most likely need you to help.
Babies are welcome. We most definitely will squeeze them and sniff them while you make. Kids over 13 need to be booked as adults.
Pets
Seeing eye dogs and emotional support animals and well behaved family pets are most welcome. Our studio floor is covered in sharp objects and pins – this is at your own peril
Late comers
If you arrive late, you may be turned away as we have already started the session. We have a lot of good stuff to get through, so please be on time.
If we think you are too late and have missed out on too much it will be too disruptive to the rest of the students and you will have to reschedule at your own cost.
Cancellations
If you have an online account with Make Town or are a MT member, you will be able to cancel your class (on your dashboard) up to 24 hours before the start time for a full refund.
A full refund will be automatically processed immediately. Please allow a few days for this to pop back into your bank account.
If you signed out as a guest ( so do not have an account with MT) – All bookings are final and we are unable to manually make changes.
Please create an MT account next time so we can help you better with your next booking.
Rescheduling
We have a very solid and automated booking system that allows you full control of your bookings yourself, however it does not allow rescheduling at this time (we are working on it)
We do not have capacity to manually manage your booking.
Please log into your MT account and cancel your booking. You are then welcome to re book another time that works for you. This is possible up to 24 hours before your workshop takes place to cancel your class – after this time the booking is final and unable to be modified on your account dashboard
Unfortunately we do not offer refunds for guest workshops – i.e. workshops taught by external teachers and not by Brooke or Becky. If the workshop is a guest workshop, this will be clearly indicated on the workshop’s page, which you can find on this website.
We process refunds for all other workshops on Mondays.
If you have missed the 24 hour window (described above) to claim your refund, you are welcome to send someone you know in your place. No show, no refund.
Our system is unable to offer rescheduling – so please rebook another time that works for you.
Waiting list

Post
We make a trip to the Post Office on Friday mornings (if things pick up we will increase this) Royal Mail will deliver your parcel to you in 2-3 working days. We have a flat fee of £5.00 for all parcels sent within the UK and £15 flat fee for the rest of the world. Shipping is free for orders over £30 in the UK.
Returns
If you are unhappy with what you have received in the post get in touch and we will make things right. We cannot accept returns on cut fabrics and notions or patterns unless faulty.
Gift Certificates
Virtual certificates are emailed to you or the lucky recipient, while the physical ones will be sent in the post.
The unique code can can be entered online at the checkout to be used for all workshops and products and are valid for 12 months. You can check the balance of your certificate on the dashboard when logged in. Gift Certificates cannot be refunded or exchanged for hard cash.
Parties
Bookings of private parties are final. The booking is finalised and booked into the calendar once we receive payment. Ensure payment is made promptly to secure your booking.
Unfortunately we will not offer refunds for party guests that decide not to come after the initial booking payment has been made, so be certain of numbers before booking your party. Craft parties in the studio will start on time. Please arrive promptly as we are unable to extend the party if you are running late.
Hire
You can hire the entire studio for your next book launch, craft meet or industry talk. We would love to have you in the studio.
We are always looking for rad people to host interesting workshops, so get in touch and let’s make magic happen.
Memberships
Everyone 13+ can sign up. Access to the studio during open hours, with 50% off classes and workshops (except after school club). A ‘Welcome Pack’ will be sent to each new member and you must comply with our house rules – we will redact your membership if think you are upsetting the vibes.
All payments are final – We use a programme/system that is automated, and we will not interfere with it (we are not Tech savy)
All bookings can be made through your user dashboard, and you can cancel your membership anytime.
You must be a current member to enjoy the benefits – If your membership has lapsed and you still want to come, either rejoin as a member before your class or pay the full amount – This isn’t a chance to find loopholes – its about being a Garry good cunt.
Can I book for a mate/my kid with my membership? Sure – But only YOU get the discount. Our system will allow you to book multiple places for convenience, however you will need to pay the difference for the others or we will have to kick you up the bum x
