May Thursdays – Learn to Sew the Basics – 3 x Sessions

From: £160.00

All great adventures start with a first step, and if you take it with us you will have the best time!

In this 3 week series you will learn the fundamentals of sewing machine etiquette and create your very own project bag and apron.

Week One – Learn how to thread a sewing machine, check tension, trouble shoot, sew seam allowances, pin correctly, match seams perfectly and use some of our special tools to make a nifty little fully lined project bag.

Week Two & Three – Learn to prepare fabric and cut correctly a commercial pattern for a denim/linen apron. We will explore the overlocker, (your new favourite machine) stitch a patch pocket, practice hems, attach a webbing and learn finishing techniques for a extremely well made practical item. Great for cooking in obviously, but an excellent project to practice for gift giving too!

Its all you need for a well rounded, fully immersive introduction to sewing so you can continue at home or with us.

All materials are provided and included in the cost.

We suggest you take this course to ‘Hire a Sewing Machine’ or to become a MT Member  x

Questions?

Will this class be suitable for me?

You need zero experience to join this workshop. In this class you will learn the fundamentals of sewing to continue sewing at home. Ideal for those who enjoy learning IRL.

If you haven’t been on a machine for quite some time, this is an excellent refresher series too. Re learn the basics – the MT way.

Can I bring my own sewing machine?

Nope. We have brilliant, sturdy and quality Janome machines which everyone will use. That way we will defo finish the projects durring the sessions.

If you would like us to sit with you and help with your own machine, please email and we can book you in for a 121 private lesson at a sweet price.

What happens if I am late?

Please be on time. It would be grand if you arrive at the studio 5 minutes before the class starts to ensure you settle in and can start promptly.

You will be turned away if you are late. We have lots to get through and being late to group classes is disruptive and unfair to everyone. Not cool dude.

What materials will we use?

We love natural fibres. Cottons and linens are well behaved, easy to work with and are best for the planet and your skin. We have a variety of fabrics to choose for your projects.

Can I cancel my booking?

Absolutely. You are welcome to log into your account and cancel your booking for a full refund. You have up to 7 days before the start date to do this. After this period, all bookings are final.

What if I can't make a session?

You won’t complete the projects. Please ensure you are able to make all 3 sessions before booking. Missing a class will deem all remaining sessions void and you will be unable to continue this series. You will need to re book at your own cost as there is no way we will be able to catch you up.

What is the minimum age to attend?

We are happy to host well behaved people 16+ Please ensure your teenager is able to get home safely after the class or picked up on time.
